Life's Big Questions

What does it mean to be human?

Who am I? Science could expain that we are a combination of fat, iron, skin hair, etc, but is that all we are? In the opening chapters of the Bible we read that we are God's creatures, made in His image! God has set us apart from the rest of creation - we are not simply animals! Neither have we evolved from them. We reflect God in our moral consciousness. We are God's stewards, set above the rest of creation and given responsibility for it.

What is God's plan for the world?

The human race is divided from God because of sin, but a rescuer has been sent in the person of Jesus Christ, to restore this relationship. One day Jesus will return to take those He loves and who have trusted Him back to live with Him forever.

You can make the Bible say whatever you want

The Bible is one book. It is a diverse colection of 66 books written by 40 different authors over a significant period of time. But it is still unified - the author is God! The writings still bears the personalities of the different authors, but God, through His spirit ensured they wrote exactly what He wanted them to write. This has implications on the way we read it. We need to understand how different sections fit in to the Bible as a whole. The Bible is not contradictory, if we understand the Bible as a whole we realise that it shows us the way to Jesus, it shows us the person and work of Jesus, and it shows us how we should live our life in this knowledge.
